Your Halloween Treat – Curb Appeal Tips

Landscaping is one of the best home investments you can make. A few well-placed trees or shrubs will increase the resale value of your home. And, it can be a lot of fun do-it-yourself project that doesn’t cost a lot of money.

For bigger projects, you may want to visualize what your new landscaping will look like before you get started. If so, you can do a Google search for “landscaping software” and find maybe free downloads to help bring your ideas to life in 3-D.

Your local nursery can help you decide which perennial plants and shrubs will do well in your region and on your property. Perennials bloom year after year, continually adding beauty and value to your home.

House Hunting Tip

Ever feeling overwhelmed searching for the perfect house? I have listed some helpful points to help eliminate some of that stress.

  1. Limit the homes you look at in one session to three, so it is easier to focus on the details.
  2. Take a picture of the homes that appeal to you, so you can remember their features.
  3. Ask questions about any problems in the home before you make an offer.

I hope this helps you in your search. As always if you know anyone who could benefit from my services, please tell them to give me a call.

Title Insurance

Title insurance is a policy provided by the title company or attorney’s office that guarantees the accuracy of the research done on the title of your home at the time of purchase.

As a buyer or seller, you may be required to purchase Lender’s Title Insurance, which prevents the lender from loss in the event of any legal issues relating to the title of your home.

At the time of purchase, a buyer is generally offered the opportunity to purchase Owner’s Title Insurance, which is a protection for the owner of the home against the same potential future loss.

I hope you find this information to be useful! Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions, or know a friend or family member that we can help make their dream of ownership become a reality.

Should You Make That Extra Payment?

My clients often ask me if it’s a smart idea to make additional payments toward the principal balance on a mortgage. The truth is, every person has different short- and long-term goals, and it’s a very personal decision.

Owning a home can be a huge financial advantage that offers guaranteed security. And, you can save thousands of dollars in interest fees by paying your loan off early. But, you’ll want to make sure you will not be adversely affected by prepayment penalties.

Some people prefer to use the extra money to create an investment portfolio. Or, you can consider paying off credit card debt, building an emergency fund, or setting money aside for your children’s college education. If you find yourself or anyone you know looking at refinancing, please give me a call.

Work/Life Balance

As a working mom the challenge to balance work and family is ALWAYS on my mind. I read this GREAT article on There are some super encouraging factors to consider. “ Mothers spend 40% more hours with their kids than mothers did in 1965.  In 1975, moms spent just 7 hours per week with their kids. Today, working mothers spend as much time with their children as stay-at-home moms did in the 1970s.”  Let that sink in for a moment. We can have it all.
